Espresso Tips

For your maximized espresso enjoyment, we present this issue's tip:

Tip No. 5:
Don't insert the pod into the group head until you are ready to brew. If it sits for any length of time, water from the upper screen may seep into the pod and begin to soften the coffee in a small area. Because the brewing water is under high pressure -- any discontinuities in the coffee will create a path of least resistance, allowing the high pressure water to jet through a localized area. The water will flow out too quickly though that small area and most of the coffee in the pod will be bypassed. The resulting extraction will be weak and bitter.

We began stocking Segafredo Zanetti's excellent pods last month. They are not yet part of the Super Sampler, Blend Sampler, or Decaf Samplers but will be very soon. Meanwhile, please check out this excellent product.

PodMerchant has been very busy working on acquiring larger facilities for our growing company. Unfortunately that's left me less time than I'd like for projects like The PODcast. But once the move has been made I hope to be able to add more products. For instance, we're sitting on a good supply of lovely demitasse, cappuccino, and latte cups branded from your favorite roasters. One day you'll see them available at our store.

Discontinued Products
PodMerchant will no longer be carrying the Espressione Nuvola machine. Our supplier has stopped importing them into the US. We are also dropping the FrancisFrancis! X3 machine from our lineup (we do continue to carry the popular X1). We have just one X3 left in stock in white. If you are interested in this machine please contact us and we'll make you a great deal.
